Thank you! I kept checking the site, hoping for a windows release. Well worth the money now too! It was easily the most cost effective purchase I’ve made on the AppStore to date.

I downloaded the TextGuru File Server for windows today. I was very excited to start putting my files on my iPod but when i tried to connect to the file server the app crashed!
I tried restarting the File Server, restarting the app, restarting the computer, restarting the iPod… I ran out of things to restart! Is anyone else having this problem or am I just special?

Alright, Sorry for waisting space here… but i figured out why it was crashing… apparently with windows firewall it doesn’t work to just all “TextGuru FileServer.exe” to the unblock list you have to actually unblock port 49999. Sorry.

I download everything, but still don’t know how to upload files from my window xp machine and edit them. I think it will be helpful if you could improve the user menu or provide online guide.

Well, I downloaded it, but my iPod cannot see anything. I’ve downloaded and installed all the files and have the fileserver set to share a folder with a bunch of documents in it.
Maybe it does not work with Vista? It is likely that I am doing something wrong though.
I would recommend making a mini-tutorial for windows users

I downloaded everything for my I-Phone 3g. I have Vista Ultimate with a linksys wireless. Everything installed ok on my laptop. I can see the guru shared file server on my I-Phone but when I click to access it, it tries to connect then the guru program just shuts down and goes to my iphone desktop.
I can’t figure out what it is. I can’t figure out how to allow or fix this firewall 49999 thing. I have AVG Security. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Not an easy app to understand or figure out when your not familiar with the technical end of it.
I have to disable my firewall to connect (cant figure that out yet) but I can’t see any files I have in a folder. I have tried different file types to no avail. Really need an idiots guide to working this app. I know I will truly love it once it works for me.

I think everything is ready to go. But when I open the textguru file server it says it’s browsing but that’s it! Nothing else happens. it gives only the options to show, hide and stop.
What can I do to upload my text files to my Ipod Touch.

I also have the same problem with the file server, I successfully added port 49999 on my vista laptop, the file shares sees the folder on my laptop but it does not display any files.
At this moment TextGuru is completely useless to me, I can’t import any files to my touch.
Why not use a transfer mechanism like AirSharing app, it works without any additional program on the PC.

Under Vista I was able to open the proper port (49999) in my firewall. I can see the files in folder I selected with no problem. Any chance there is update coming that will allow me to see folders in the Textguru Windows Fileserver? Also, when I download a file to my iPhone, all the files a lumped together. Would be nice to have folders in the doc view on the iPhone so I can organize my files.
Regardless, this is a very nice app.

I feel really stupid as I can not find instructions on how to get this program to work. Are there step by step instructions someplace? Thank you

I have the same problem too. If I can’t import my files to my ipod touch it’s totally useless. Please help.

• Program was a bit non-intuitive, and it took me a while to figure out how to save files and how to transfer files to and from my PC. This program is not recommended for someone without a fair amount of computer literacy. I eventually got the program to work, but a few bugs and limitations suggest that this is not a finished product yet.
• A deleted file sometimes comes back and/or shows up on the File Share web page.
• Firewall settings could be better documented. What worked for me (using the Zone Labs Integrity Flex firewall):
- “Internet Zone”: Allow incoming TCP ports 49999, 50184; no changes to outgoing TCP ports or to incoming or outgoing UDP ports.
- “Trusted Zone”: No changes.
• Documents list comes up as blank sometimes. Workaround is to switch to another view and back to Documents list.
• TextGuru File Server for Windows:
- Cannot load docs from certain directories (too many files or subdirectories?).
- Cannot shut down computer until File Server is stopped. I’m running XP SP2.
• TextGuru crashed after I attempted to view a 1 MB text file, then used help.
• App has poorly documented size limits:
- 500 KB for text, 5 MB for PDF’s
- Lets you waste time downloading bigger files and enforces limit only when you try to view it.
- Help says PDF size limit is 10 MB but it is actually 5 MB.
• Help on File Server says only the Mac is supported, but this is no longer true.
• File Sharing (iPhone to PC)
- The pop-up after I turn on File Sharing suggested http://localhost.local:50184 regardless of the name I gave it.
- Instead, the correct address for me is either http://192.168.1.2:50184 or http://192.168.1.3:50184.
- Can’t view a file with a ‘#’ in the name. Replacing ‘#’ with ‘%23′ in the URL didn’t work.
• Pastie and Sprunge accept only UTF-8 files, not plain text ASCII files.

I’m a travel writer and want a simple program for transfering text files to and from textguru via USB. Installing dotnet, iTunes, bonjour and text file server is not practical and depending on wifi is a crutch. I was using iphonebrowser but it’s a pain. It can’t be that hard to make a program to copy files between the pc and the documents folder of textguru, make the swich to unicode, and update the file list. I’m really hoping you can make this simple program.
